(Reuters) - A major Iranian partner of Huawei Technologies offered to sell at least 1.3 million euros worth of embargoed Hewlett-Packard computer equipment to Iran's largest mobile-phone operator in late 2010, documents show.
China's Huawei, the world's second largest telecommunications equipment maker, says neither it nor its partner, a private company registered in Hong Kong, ultimately provided the HP products to the telecom, Mobile Telecommunication Co of Iran, known as MCI. Nevertheless, the incident provides new evidence of how Chinese companies have been willing to help Iran evade trade sanctions.

HaaretzLast week Benjamin Netanyahu finally mentioned the threat that Iran poses to the State of Israel. Since his resounding appearance at the United Nations, where he pointed to the Iranian threat by means of a ludicrous drawing, this fateful issue (from his perspective ) has somehow dropped from the public eye. It's a strange turn of events considering the fact that the Iranian nuclear program topped Netanyahu's agenda during his entire current term in office, and that the manner in which he handled it cast a pall of palpable existential threat over Israel.
Only last Tuesday's speech launching the Likud-Beiteinu election campaign again touched on th ...

Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi may look besieged at home, but by brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in November, he enhanced his diplomatic stature mightily across the entire Middle East. Indeed, as 2012 comes to a close, Egypt’s centrality to regional diplomacy has been restored. The big question for 2013 is whether Mursi will follow his achievement in Gaza by tackling another major diplomatic challenge: rebuilding relations with Iran after more than three decades of animosity.
Relations between the two countries collapsed in 1980, after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini came to power in Iran’s Islamic Revolution and severed ties in response to Egypt’ ...

WSJ.comIn regard to the Dec. 28 Letter from Ailreza Miryousefi, press officer of the Iran's mission to the U.N., Mr. Miryousef must not be listening to his leaders when he claims that the enrichment of uranium past nuclear-plant requirements is only for peaceful purposes. The Iranian government has made clear countless times that its ultimate goal is the destruction of Israel. What is the most convenient method for this agenda? Obviously, long-range missiles equipped with nuclear warheads.
North Korea and Russia have supplied the nuclear knowledge for the bomb, North Korea for the long-range missiles. Now all that is required is the time that Iran has been buyin ...

TEHRAN — As rebel forces advance and longtime allies in Moscow distance themselves, Syria's most faithful friend is recalculating as well: Iranian officials and analysts say the Islamic Republic has launched a vigorous internal debate about how firmly it will continue to support Syrian President Bashar Assad.
On the surface, Iranian officials stick to the view that Assad remains in control, and they welcome his emissaries. In Friday sermons, clerics close to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, accuse Israel and Western powers of plotting to bring Assad down.
But faced with the slow-motion collapse of Assad's regim ...
